How about something new?! Let's try some baseball this October in Monterey! Keith DaCosta and the West Coast Fantasy Baseball Association are proud to present the inaugural "It Happened in Monterey" Fantasy Baseball Tournament. The tournament will take place at the home of the Otters, California State University of Monterey Bay (CSUMB), from October 2-5, 2014. There will be a golf event on Thursday, October 2nd followed by baseball from Friday, October 3rd through Sunday, October 5th. Come on out and help make this first tournament special!
BASEBALL ROSTERS, SCHEDULE, RULES, AND DRIVING DIRECTIONS The following camps have been invited to send teams to this year's tournament:
We hope to field six teams for the event with each team playing one game against a different opponent on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
To get all the games in on time, we will employ the following rules:
Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa
Our base hotel and the location of our Saturday night banquet will be the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa. The property is located at 1 Old Golf Course Road, Monterey, CA 93940. Single and double occupancy rates per night are $189 (plus occupancy and resort taxes). Rooms are available at this rate from Wednesday, October 1st through Sunday, October 5th at check out time. Our block of rooms is being held until Wednesday, September 3rd or until they sell out.

A small block of rooms is also being held at Casa Munras Hotel and Spa. The property is located at 700 Munras Avenue, Monterey, CA 93940. Our block of rooms is being held until Monday, August 4th or until they sell out. Single and double occupancy rates are available as follows:

SATURDAY NIGHT BANQUET
Our banquet will be held on Saturday night at the base hotel, the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa. Dinner cost for players will be included in the tournament fee. All extra adult dinners are $55 a piece. If any children 12 and under are attending, please include an additional $25 per child.
There will be a no host cash bar available in the banquet room which is adjacent to the Knuckles Sports Bar within the Hyatt. Dinner will be buffet style. The dinner will feature several dishes and desserts specially prepared by a the hotel's "master chef".
THURSDAY GOLF
Keith DaCosta will be hosting a golf outing on Thursday, October 2nd at the Del Monte Golf Course, the oldest golf course west of Mississippi. The course is managed by the Pebble Beach Company. We will receive discounted green fees of $67 per player as well as a 20% discount in the pro shop. More details will follow, but if you would like to play, email Keith at kld236@gmail.com to get on the list.
TOURNAMENT FEES AND SIGNUP
The goal is to keep the price low while making the experience memorable. The baseball tournament fee will be $205 per player. This fee gets you:
WCFBA (A's and GIANTS) : Click here for the tournament signup form. Send check made out to WCFBA and the signup form Rob Weber at the address on the form. Your deadline to signup is September 5th.
DODGERS, MARINERS, and PADRES tournament coordinators : Click here for the team tournament signup form. Email your players and ask that they send you the signup information (name, extra adult dinners, extra children's dinners, and payment with check made out to you). Write each player's information on the team tournament signup form and mail with ONE check made out to WCFBA to Rob Weber at the address on the form.
IMPORTANT: Do not send your golf fees with your baseball payment.
