Get ready for baseball in Arizona this coming January!  The West Coast Fantasy Baseball Association is pleased to announce the fourth annual "Melee at Mesa" Fantasy Baseball Tournament from January 22-25, 2009.  Again, we will be using the three-field Gene Autry Sports Complex in Mesa, Arizona for this event.  The complex used to serve as the minor league home for the Angels for several years, but fantasy baseball will take center stage on our weekend.

BASEBALL ROSTERS, SCHEDULE, RULES, AND DRIVING DIRECTIONS

Most teams will play two games on Friday, one on Saturday, and one on getaway day, Sunday.  That is a total of four games per team.  Those looking to leave town on Sunday will be able to make a 4:00pm flight out of Phoenix Airport.  To get all the games in on time, we will employ the following rules:

AT THE GENE AUTRY SPORTS COMPLEX

The Gene Autry Sports Complex is owned and operated by the City of Mesa.  While on the grounds of the facility, there is NO SMOKING, NO DRINKING OF ALCOHOL, and NO PETS.  Please abide by these rules or we may lose our playing privileges at the complex for now and future dates.

We will have access to the locker room and shower facilities.  Each player will have their own personal locker.  The facility will be locked at night so you may store your equipment there at your own risk.  Laundry and towel service is available on Friday and Saturday.  A catered lunch is provided on Friday and Saturday at the baseball complex.  All of this will be supervised by our own clubhouse manager, Troy Timney!

THURSDAY SCRAMBLE GOLF TOURNAMENT AND DINNER

Before we get started with our baseball, some campers will be playing in a golf tournament on Thursday, January 22nd.  We will be playing at the Arizona Golf Resort within the Mesa city limits.  The deadline to signup for this event is January 10th.  We will have a 1:00pm 'shotgun' start so those of you who want to play can still fly into Arizona on Thursday morning.  All tournament players, significant others, and guests are welcome to play.  The tournament will feature a scramble format so it doesn't matter how good or bad a golfer you are.  Just come out and have some fun!

$120 is the cost per golfer and that buys you the following:

Fifteen sets of rental golf clubs are available for $33 each.  Call in advance to reserve.

IMPORTANT : Golf is being coordinated by a separate group of players and should be paid for separately from your baseball fees.

Please send checks made payable to:

SATURDAY NIGHT BANQUET AND ENTERTAINMENT

The Saturday night banquet will be held at the Arizona Golf Resort facility.  Dinner will be buffet style.  Dinner cost for players will be included in the tournament fee.  All extra dinners are $45 a piece.  If any children 12 and under are attending, let me know and I will get you a price.  No-host cocktail hour starts at 6:00pm followed by dinner at 7:00pm.

The entire dinner menu will be published soon, but plan on at least three main dishes including one vegetarian.  Salad, fruits, cheeses, bread, coffee, tea, decaf, and dessert will all be part of the menu and are included in the price.

Dinner will be followed by entertainment.  We've had comedians and hypnotists in the past.  I believe I have selected another fine show for you all so please stay and partake.  I think you will be very impressed.
